Christmas In July
by Billie Ann Woo

At CTKB we embrace everything involved with food. We have cookware, knives, tools, gadgets, plates and linens as far as the eye can see. We love to cook. We love to talk about food and obviously, we love to eat. But we know that not everyone is as fortunate to be so readily accessible to our favourite foods. There are thousands of Canadians that struggle to feed themselves and their families. These Canadians find themselves in complicated circumstances that make it difficult for them to access nutritious food. They are our friends, family and neighbors. At Call the Kettle Black, we want to make their lives a little easier. We are very proud to run our “Christmas in July” program – a food bank drive that benefits families in both Vancouver and Edmonton.
Join us to help feed our communities by donating food at any of our four locations.
Suggested items include:
- Canned meat/fish
- Peanut butter
- Pasta/rice
- Pasta sauce
- Canned fruit/vegetables
- 100% fruit juice
- Low sugar cereal
- Baby food and formula
Unable to accept: Homemade food, products containing alcohol, expired food, open packages of food
The food banks in the two respective cities do incredible work to serve citizens that need assistance. Monetary donations are also graciously and appreciatively accepted. For the Vancouver Food Bank – every dollar donated has triple the purchasing value (your $1 = $3 purchasing value). Both Food Banks have terrific volunteering opportunities if you feel like donating some hours of your time for a great cause. Their websites are listed below.
Let’s try and give some of these families in need a great July – a real Christmas in July!
