One Skillet For Your Camping Cooking Needs

by Billie Ann Woo

When you’re on your next trip in the wilderness, don’t forget to pack your trusty cast iron skillet! Remember that you can use the skillet for every meal:

Breakfast: Bacon & Eggs

Side: Gently fire-toasted bread

Tip: Reserve the bacon fat for cooking later.

Lunch: Grilled Cheese Sandwiches

Side: Grilled Corn on the Cob

Tip: Hello bacon fat! It’ll give your sandwiches a meaty crunch.

Dinner: Daily Catch

Side: Foil-wrapped Baked Potatoes

Tip: Do this in reverse – do a potato hash and foil wrap your fish!

Dessert: Skillet Apple Cake

Side: Grab your Bialetti/stovetop espresso maker for a cup of coffee

Tip: Reserve a few slices for breakfast the next day!

And when you’re done cooking, don’t forget to store your food where the bears can’t get it…or else feel free to use the skillet as a protective weapon!
