Depending on your eating habits you may reach for one every day, every week or every month. But we all must admit: everyone needs a can opener.

The design is classic Henckels: ergonomic, sleek, safe, and sexy. Place the opener on top of the can, with the C-ring aligned resting on the lid. Ensure that the cutting wheel is flush to the edge of the lip of the can. Turn the handle once towards you (backwards) to lock the opener in place. You’ll feel the sharp but discreet blade sink into the can. Move the handle forward (away from you) and the opener should glide smoothly around the perimeter of the can. Once you’ve done one loop, turn the handle backwards to unlock and carefully lift the lid off the can!

The opener cuts the lid off from the bottom, which eliminates the dangerous “fishing of the lid”. However, the edge on the can is still sharp, so watch out!
