Tool - Offset Spatula
by Billie Ann Woo

I can’t tell you how many times I’ve been in a kitchen pickle and thought, “hmm…let me get out the offset spatula…”
Yes, it’s primarily for cookie/cake decorating. But it also lifts delicate cookies off baking sheets. It picks up corners of Silpats and parchment from hot pans. I use it to separate cake from pan (without the deep scratch of a knife). It can delicately pry grilling shrimp from my barbeque. It slathers mayonnaise and mustard on my sandwiches. I’ve even used it to clean my espresso maker brew group. Really, it does everything. You can use it in situations where your hand cannot sit flush with the surface, so make sure you have one within arm’s reach!
Tip: Use it to spread batter all the way to the edge of the pan and smooth out surfaces.
Trick: Use a larger offset spatula to transfer fish or meat from the grill or pan.
